Mapa
San Francisco Map Poster & Print
San Francisco occupies the northern tip of a peninsula, with the Pacific Ocean to the west, the bay to the east and the Golden Gate strait to the north. From above, the city is famous for the way its rigid street grid runs straight over steep hills, ignoring the terrain, while Market Street cuts diagonally across the plan and separates two differently angled grids.
The city was rebuilt after the earthquake and fire of 1906, largely along its nineteenth-century street plan. Its two great bridges, the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge, both opened in the 1930s. To the west, Golden Gate Park stretches for about three miles in a long rectangle toward Ocean Beach.
A San Francisco map poster reveals details that are hard to see from the ground: the sharp edge where the grid meets Twin Peaks, the curves of Lombard and other hillside streets, the piers along the Embarcadero and the open spaces of the Presidio. It is one of the most recognisable city shapes in the world, and it translates beautifully into black and white.

Market Street diagonal
Market Street slices across the city from the Ferry Building toward Twin Peaks, dividing two grids that meet at an angle along its length.
Waterfront and bridges
The Embarcadero piers line the bay in a regular series, while the Golden Gate and Bay bridges extend as fine lines toward Marin and Oakland.
