Mapa
Brough Map Poster & Print
Brough lies in the East Riding of Yorkshire on the north shore of the Humber estuary, west of Hull. On the map it is shaped by several strong lines running east to west: the main railway, the roads toward Hull and the M62, and the estuary shore itself. Housing fills the land between these lines and has spread northward in recent decades.
The town has a long history of aircraft manufacturing. The Blackburn company set up works here beside the Humber in the early twentieth century, and the site later passed to Hawker Siddeley and then BAE Systems, remaining closely tied to the town's identity. Much earlier, the Romans had a settlement here known as Petuaria, near a crossing point of the estuary.
A Brough map poster balances the dense grain of residential streets with the wide openness of the estuary. The shoreline, with its mudflats and haven, gives the composition a strong natural edge, while the railway and industrial sites add clean geometric shapes. With water filling much of the frame, the map reads clearly at any size.

Railway corridor
The main line between Hull and the west runs straight through the town, a bold horizontal line that organises the street plan.
Industrial frontage
The large aircraft works and industrial buildings between the town and the water appear as big, simple blocks, in contrast with the fine residential grid.
