Orange groves

Carcaixent Map Poster & Print
Carcaixent lies in the Ribera Alta, south of Valencia, on the plain of the Júcar river. It holds a special place in Spanish agriculture: the first commercial orange groves in Spain are traditionally dated to 1781, when local growers planted them here. That legacy is still visible on any map of the town.
The centre is compact, a web of narrow streets and small squares around the parish church, with later growth along the main roads and railway. Beyond that, the land is divided into rectangular orchards separated by irrigation channels and farm lanes. The result is one of the most regular farming patterns in the Valencian region.
A Carcaixent map poster shows the relationship between town and orchard with unusual clarity. The dense centre sits almost like an island in a sea of fine rectangles, while watercourses bend across the plain. Among the town's notable buildings is the Magatzem de Ribera, a modernista orange warehouse that recalls the citrus trade.

Historic centre
Narrow streets and small squares gather around the parish church in the old core, forming the darkest and most irregular part of the print.
Júcar plain
The broad, flat plain of the Júcar stretches around Carcaixent, with the river and its tributaries drawing softer curves through the orderly pattern of fields.
