Zhou River bends
The river swings through the city in broad curves, and the older districts sit on the flat land within them, giving the centre a rounded, enclosed outline.

Mapa
Dazhou Map Poster & Print
Dazhou lies in the hills of northeastern Sichuan, close to the borders with Chongqing and Shaanxi. The city grew along the Zhou River, which curves through the urban area in wide bends, and much of the older centre occupies the flatter ground inside those curves. Around it, ridges rise quickly, so the street pattern stretches along the valley rather than spreading evenly.
This setting gives the map a layered look. Dense blocks gather near the water, bridges stitch the two banks together, and roads bend with the contours as they climb into the surrounding hills. Newer districts have spread onto higher and more open ground further from the river, linked back to the centre by long avenues that work their way out of the valley.
The wider region is an important source of natural gas, and Dazhou is also a rail junction on the eastern edge of the Sichuan Basin. A Dazhou map poster reduces all of this to its clearest lines: the curving river, the compact core it encloses and the hills that give the city its narrow, winding form.

River bridges
A series of bridges crosses the Zhou at short intervals, drawing a ladder of lines across the water that ties the two banks into one urban area.
Valley-bound streets
Because ridges close in on both sides, main roads run parallel to the river, and the city reads as a long band of streets following the valley floor.
