Estate street loops
Curving residential roads and crescents form the core of the district, a planned pattern that looks especially clean when reduced to thin black lines on white paper.

Elmschenhagen Map Poster & Print
Elmschenhagen sits on the southeastern side of Kiel, a little inland from the fjord that gives the city its shape. From above it looks like a planned district rather than an old village: long, gently curving residential streets, rows of houses set back behind gardens, and a clear boundary where the built area meets fields and patches of woodland.
The street pattern tells you a lot. Instead of a medieval knot, you see the calm geometry of twentieth-century housing estates, with loops and crescents that turn back on themselves and quiet side roads branching off a few main axes. Green strips and allotment-style plots break up the blocks, so the drawing has plenty of white space between its lines.
An Elmschenhagen map poster shows a part of Kiel that visitors rarely photograph but residents know in detail: the walk to the bus stop, the school on the corner, the route out towards the countryside. In black and white, the district's orderly curves read almost like a textile pattern, and the edge of the city becomes a line you can trace with a finger.

City meets countryside
On the outer side, the dense street grid thins out into fields and tree lines, giving the poster a clear transition from urban texture to open ground.
Links into Kiel
Main roads lead northwest towards central Kiel and the fjord, tying this quiet district into the larger street network of the Schleswig-Holstein capital.
