Geyve lies in Sakarya Province in northwestern Turkey, where the Sakarya River runs between wooded hills on its way to the Black Sea. From above, the town sits in the valley near the point where it narrows. The river, main road and railway all pass through the same tight corridor and give the map a strong, shared direction.
The Geyve gorge has long been an important passage between the Marmara region and the Anatolian interior, and the main railway between Istanbul and Ankara follows the valley. Around the town the land is fertile, with orchards and farmland on the lower slopes and forest on the higher ground.
