The Berg
The hill that gives the town its name holds the historic centre and church, and the streets around it fan outward in a pattern that is easy to read from above.

Mapa
Heist-op-den-Berg Map Poster & Print
Heist-op-den-Berg takes its name from the modest hill at its centre, a rare rise in the otherwise level Kempen landscape of the province of Antwerp. The old core sits on and around that height, with the Sint-Lambertus church at the top. From there the streets run outward and downhill into the surrounding fields.
Beyond the centre, the municipality brings together former villages such as Booischot, Itegem, Wiekevorst, Hallaar and Schriek. On a map each one is a small nucleus of streets of its own, joined to the others by country roads and ribbons of houses. The railway between Lier and Aarschot crosses the territory, a straight line through the softer pattern of lanes.
A Heist-op-den-Berg map poster captures a typically Flemish mix of town and countryside. A tight frame shows the hill and the streets that run down from it. A wider frame turns into a constellation of villages among fields and woodland. Both work well in black and white, where the density of roads alone shows where people have settled.

Village centres
Several former villages keep their own centres, each a small cluster of streets around a church, linked to the others by rural roads across open land.
Lier–Aarschot railway
The rail line cuts a clean, straight path through the municipality, a strong linear accent among the curving lanes and field boundaries of the Kempen.
