Mapa
Hufeng Map Poster & Print
Hufeng lies in the Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country west of the main urban area. The land here is rarely flat. Low ridges and valleys fold across the region, and settlements follow the shape of the ground. On a map, the town's streets gather in a compact centre on the more level land, with roads leaving along valleys and around hillsides.
The surrounding countryside is agricultural and carefully worked. Terraced fields step up the slopes, small ponds and reservoirs sit in the hollows, and farm tracks wind between hamlets. On a printed map, this becomes a fine, irregular texture of curving lines, very different from the grid-based plans of cities on open plains.
A Hufeng map poster is a personal piece for people with roots here, perhaps now living in central Chongqing or far beyond. In black and white, the contrast between the small, dense town and the finely drawn hills around it gives the print quiet depth.

Folded hills
Ridges and valleys shape every road around Hufeng. Lines bend and switch direction, giving the poster a sense of relief without contour lines.
Ponds and terraces
Small reservoirs and stepped fields fill the rural landscape. They add scattered shapes and delicate detail to the outer areas of the print.
