Planned microdistricts
Residential blocks stand in regular groups with shared inner yards. This pattern is typical of Soviet towns of the 1970s and 1980s, and it prints as a crisp, repeating texture.

Kurchatov Map Poster & Print
Kurchatov is one of the youngest towns in Kursk Oblast. It was built from the late 1960s to house the workers of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant and is named after Igor Kurchatov, the physicist who led the Soviet atomic project. It was planned from scratch rather than grown from a village, so its layout looks very different from the older market towns of the region.
From above, the town is a tidy arrangement of long residential blocks set around generous courtyards, with straight avenues linking them to the industrial zone. The Seym River winds through the flat countryside nearby. The plant's cooling reservoir forms a large, smooth shape on the map, far bigger than anything else in the surroundings.
A Kurchatov map poster captures that deliberate geometry: the repeated rectangles of the microdistricts, the few main roads that tie them together, and the fields and water around the whole settlement. In black and white, the contrast between the planned town and the winding river becomes the main subject. The result is a clear portrait of a place designed around a single purpose.

Cooling reservoir
The artificial lake built for the power plant is the largest shape on the map. Its straight embankments contrast clearly with the soft, natural banks of the river nearby.
Seym River valley
The Seym winds across the flat black-earth plain near the town. Its loops and old channels add soft, irregular lines to an otherwise orderly composition.

Zašto Kurchatov
Mapa koja nešto znači
People who grew up in Kurchatov or worked at the plant often recognise their own courtyard or street in the grid at a glance. The map is a quiet reminder of a town built by one generation that is still home to many of its families.
You can write your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name, a year of arrival or a date that matters. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the town's engineering origins especially well.
