Mapa
Morecambe Map Poster & Print
Morecambe faces west across Morecambe Bay on the Lancashire coast. On a map, the bay dominates. At low tide it becomes an immense expanse of sand and channels, among the largest intertidal areas in Britain. The town follows the shoreline in a long, gentle curve. The promenade runs along the front, and rows of terraced streets stack up behind it in a tidy seaside pattern.
The town grew as a resort in the railway age, and its architecture still reflects that era. The Midland Hotel, a white art deco building on the seafront, is one of its best-known landmarks, and a statue of the comedian Eric Morecambe, who took his stage name from the town, stands near the water. On clear days the Lake District fells are visible across the bay.
A Morecambe map poster places the town exactly where it belongs: on the edge of an enormous, shifting bay. The neat terraces and the curve of the promenade contrast with the wide empty space of sand and sea. It is a quiet, spacious composition that suits the light and scale of the northwest coast.

Terraced streets
Behind the front, parallel rows of Victorian and Edwardian terraces make a regular, fine-grained pattern that is typical of English seaside towns.
Morecambe Bay
Huge tidal flats and meandering channels fill much of the map. The empty space gives the poster its calm, open character.
