Weaver and Dane
The two rivers meet near the town centre, and their curves divide Northwich into distinct areas. On the poster, they form the main lines of the composition.

Mapa
Northwich Map Poster & Print
Northwich grew where the River Dane flows into the River Weaver in mid-Cheshire, and the two rivers still set the shape of the town centre. On a map, the Weaver winds through from south to north, joined by the Dane close to the old core. Around them, streets spread out in all directions, and the edges of the town are broken up by water, green space and former industrial land.
Salt made Northwich. Brine was pumped and rock salt mined here for centuries, and the resulting subsidence created lakes known locally as flashes, and forced many buildings to be built so they could be jacked up if the ground sank. North of the town, the Anderton Boat Lift, opened in 1875, raises boats between the Weaver and the Trent and Mersey Canal.
A Northwich map poster brings all of this into one frame: meandering rivers, the straighter line of the canal, the water left behind by subsidence and the streets filling the land in between. In black and white, the town reads as a place shaped by water and industry, with each feature telling part of the salt story.

Anderton Boat Lift
North of the town, this Victorian lift connects the River Weaver with the Trent and Mersey Canal, and the meeting of river and canal is clearly visible on the map.
Subsidence flashes
Lakes formed by ground sinking over old salt workings sit around the town. They appear as irregular shapes of water among the fields and streets.
