Percut sits in Deli Serdang Regency in North Sumatra, just east of the city of Medan, and much of its urban area merges with Medan's outer neighbourhoods. On the map, dense residential streets near the city border gradually give way to fields, plantations and villages as the land runs northeast toward the coast of the Strait of Malacca.
The landscape is flat and low, crossed by rivers flowing toward the sea, and the pattern of settlement follows the main roads and waterways. Near the coast, the land becomes wetter, with fishponds and mangrove areas. It is a place where suburban growth, agriculture and coastal life sit side by side within a single district.
