Mapa
Port Washington Map Poster & Print
Port Washington sits on the Cow Neck peninsula on Long Island's North Shore. Manhasset Bay lies to the west and Hempstead Harbor to the east. Main Street runs down to the waterfront, where marinas and moorings line the shore, and residential streets curve up the slopes behind. Inland, the rail line ends at a station that links the town directly to Manhattan.
The town has an industrial past. Its sand pits once supplied huge amounts of material for New York City's concrete. In the 1930s, Manhasset Bay also served as a base for transatlantic flying boats. The nearby Sands Point estates are often linked to the East Egg of The Great Gatsby, a reminder of the Gold Coast era along this shoreline.
A Port Washington map poster shows the peninsula as a clear, irregular shape set against open water. The harbour edge is drawn in detail, the town streets form a tight core near the bay, and the roads loosen into wooded lanes towards the northern point.

Railroad terminus
The Port Washington Branch ends in the middle of town. The station anchors the street grid and ties the peninsula to New York City.
Former sand pits
Large areas once used for sand mining now hold parks and newer development. On the map they show up as unusual open pockets in the residential pattern.
