The Songhua River
A broad river with shifting channels and sandbars runs past the city, forming the strongest line on the map and separating the built-up banks from the wetlands beyond.

Mapa
Songyuan Map Poster & Print
Songyuan sits on the plains of western Jilin, where the Songhua River swings through open farmland. From above, the river is the first thing you notice: a wide, slow band with braided channels, sandbars and low islands. The city lies along its banks, and bridges carry the main roads across to the far side. Much of the surrounding land is flat enough that the street pattern runs straight to the edge of the fields.
The urban core is laid out in large rectangular blocks with wide arterial roads, the kind of plan common in cities that grew quickly in the late twentieth century. Songyuan's growth is closely tied to the Jilin oilfield, and the region's industry shows up on a map as rail spurs, service roads and open industrial parcels between residential districts. In black and white, these different textures sit side by side and stay easy to read.
Beyond the city, the prefecture is known for Chagan Lake, where the winter fishing season draws visitors to watch nets hauled up through the ice. The lake is outside the frame of a central street map, but it adds to the sense of a place shaped by water and wide horizons. A Songyuan map poster keeps the focus on the river and the grid, drawn in fine, even lines.

Large planned blocks
Wide arterial roads divide the centre into generous rectangles, giving the poster a calm, regular rhythm that contrasts with the loose curves of the water nearby.
Bridges across the water
Road bridges cross the Songhua and tie the two banks together, drawn as thin straight strokes over the open river surface.
