Zuid-Willemsvaart
The canal slices straight through the town. It is the most striking line on the map and the reason Veghel built its harbours and industry along the water.

Mapa
Veghel Map Poster & Print
Veghel lies in the east of North Brabant and since 2017 has been the main town of the municipality of Meierijstad. Its map is organised by water. The Zuid-Willemsvaart canal runs straight through the town, while the river Aa takes a more meandering path close by. The centre, harbour areas and residential districts fall into place between these two lines.
The canal helped Veghel become a centre for industry and food processing, and business parks spread along the waterway and the A50 motorway. In September 1944 the town was liberated during Operation Market Garden, when airborne troops secured its bridges over the canal and the Aa. The episode is still remembered locally.
A Veghel map poster shows how a working town has grown around its waterways. The canal gives the design a clear vertical axis, the river adds curves, and newer neighbourhoods spread outward toward the Brabant farmland. It is a map that rewards close looking, because each district has its own street pattern.

River Aa
The river winds beside the town in soft curves, a natural counterpoint to the engineered canal and a reminder of the older landscape.
Canal bridges
Crossings over the canal and the river link the parts of town. In 1944 these bridges were key objectives during Operation Market Garden.
