Contour-following roads
Local roads curve and double back as they climb and descend. They draw loose loops across the map that echo the shape of the hills beneath them.

Mapa
Xihu Map Poster & Print
Xihu is a town in Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country south of the Yangtze that characterises much of the region. The land here is rarely flat. Hills and ridges are cut by small valleys, slopes are farmed in terraces, and settlements take whatever level ground they can find. On the map, Xihu's centre is a compact cluster of streets within this folded terrain.
Roads in this landscape are anything but straight. They follow contours, switch back up hillsides and trace the bottoms of valleys, producing a looping, irregular network with villages and scattered houses strung along it. It is a very different picture from the dense towers of central Chongqing, yet it belongs to the same mountainous geography that shapes the whole municipality.
A Xihu map poster makes that geography legible. In black and white, winding roads become flowing lines, the small town centre gives the design a focal point, and the surrounding hills stay open and quiet. It is a modest, faithful portrait of rural Chongqing, meaningful to anyone who grew up here or still has family among these hills.

Compact centre
The town's main streets gather on a limited area of flatter ground, creating a small, dense core that anchors the composition on every style.
Terraced countryside
Farmland and scattered homes fill the surrounding slopes, so much of the frame is open space with fine threads of lanes and tracks running through it.
