Mapa
Ystad Map Poster & Print
Ystad lies on the south coast of Skåne, facing the Baltic Sea, and a long, gently curving shoreline frames its map. The historic centre sits just back from the harbour. It is a tight cluster of narrow streets and small squares that has kept much of its medieval pattern. The ferry port, with regular connections to Bornholm, occupies the waterfront next to it.
Ystad is known for its many well-preserved half-timbered houses, St Mary's Church and the Greyfriars monastery, one of the best-preserved in Sweden. It is also the setting of Henning Mankell's Wallander novels, which brought the town international attention. Further east along the coast, the stone ship of Ales stenar stands above the sea at Kåseberga.
A Ystad map poster balances land and sea. The Baltic takes up a large part of the frame, and the harbour piers and breakwaters draw strong angular shapes. The old town forms a fine web of lanes behind them. Farther out, the streets loosen into newer districts, and the coast continues in long sandy beaches.

Harbour and ferry port
Piers, breakwaters and ferry terminals extend into the Baltic. They create bold angular forms at the water's edge that anchor the composition.
Baltic shoreline
A long, smooth coastline runs across the frame, with sandy beaches stretching east from the town. It gives the poster a strong horizon.

Zašto Ystad
Mapa koja nešto znači
Ystad draws readers who know it from the Wallander novels, as well as summer guests and travellers catching the ferry to Bornholm. A map of its coast and old streets is a calm memento of a place with a distinctly southern Swedish light.
