Island channels
Narrow straits wind between dozens of islands of every size. In black and white, the water becomes the dominant shape and the land reads as scattered, finely edged fragments.

Zhoushan Map Poster & Print
Zhoushan is not a single urban area but an archipelago at the mouth of Hangzhou Bay, off the coast of Zhejiang. The municipality takes in well over a thousand islands, and the largest of them, Zhoushan Island, holds most of the population and the main town districts. On a map, land and sea break into countless irregular shapes.
Since 2009 a series of bridges hopping from island to island has linked the archipelago to Ningbo on the mainland, among them the Xihoumen Bridge, one of the longest suspension spans in the world. The combined port of Ningbo-Zhoushan, with harbours on both sides of the water, has for years handled more cargo by tonnage than any other port.
East of the main island lies Putuoshan, one of the four sacred mountains of Chinese Buddhism and dedicated to Guanyin. The surrounding waters form one of China's major fishing grounds. A Zhoushan map poster works best at a wider crop, where islands, channels and bridges form a pattern that feels closer to an abstract print than a street plan.

Bridge chain to Ningbo
A line of long bridges crosses from island to island towards the mainland. On a wide crop they appear as thin connecting strokes across open sea, linking the archipelago to the coast.
Putuoshan
A small island east of Zhoushan Island, home to Buddhist temples and pilgrimage routes. Its compact outline sits clearly apart from the main group in any wider view.

Zašto Zhoushan
Mapa koja nešto znači
An archipelago makes an unusual wall piece, with more water than land and a shape that changes with every crop. It suits anyone who grew up on the islands, worked at the port or made the pilgrimage to Putuoshan.
Add your own title, perhaps the name of a single island, and a subtitle with a date or a place of meaning. Blueprint and Noir give the sea a strong presence, while Paper keeps it light. Each $9 download includes six print sizes in PNG and PDF.
