Kaduna River
The river passes near the town in wide bends with sandbanks and wooded margins. It is the strongest natural line on the map and a reminder of why a settlement grew up here.

Mapa
Zungeru Map Poster & Print
Zungeru is in Niger State, close to the Kaduna River, in a landscape of savanna, farmland and rocky outcrops. From above, it is a modest settlement: a handful of main roads, a loose network of streets between compounds, and open ground between clusters of buildings. The river and the streams that feed it limit where the town can grow, leaving green corridors that stay clear on the map.
The town holds a large place in Nigerian history. In the early twentieth century it served for some years as the administrative capital of the British Protectorate of Northern Nigeria, until the seat moved to Kaduna. Zungeru is also the birthplace of Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first President of Nigeria. That gives a Zungeru map poster a meaning far beyond the town's size.
In recent years the Kaduna River near Zungeru has been dammed for a large hydroelectric scheme, one of the biggest in the country. Depending on the map extent you choose, the reservoir can add a broad body of water to the landscape upstream. Roads and tracks lead out across the countryside toward neighbouring towns in Niger State, and the map shows their thin lines crossing the open land.

Hydroelectric reservoir
Upstream on the Kaduna, the Zungeru hydroelectric scheme has created a reservoir. Its outline can appear at wider map extents, a new shape in an old landscape.
Open town layout
Main roads run between scattered clusters of compounds and fields. The map has an open texture rather than a dense grid, with plenty of space around each line.
