Caspian plain
The ground is almost completely flat, so streets and field boundaries spread evenly across the sheet, without the bends and gaps that hills would force.

Amīr Kolā Map Poster & Print
Amīr Kolā lies in Māzandarān province in northern Iran, on the flat, humid plain between the Alborz mountains and the Caspian Sea, just north of the city of Babol. It belongs to the ring of towns around Babol. On the map it sits close to its larger neighbour but keeps its own distinct street pattern.
The land here is low and well watered, and farming shapes everything around the town. Straight roads run out across the plain, lined with houses, and the spaces between them are divided into small plots and paddies. Irrigation channels and minor rivers draw thin, meandering lines through the fields and soften the edges of the built-up area.
An Amīr Kolā map poster shows a settlement that grew along roads across farmland rather than inside walls. In black and white, the fine division of the surrounding fields becomes a texture of its own. The town reads as a dense knot within a wider, carefully worked landscape.

Roadside growth
Houses and shops line the main roads leading toward Babol and the coast. They form long built-up ribbons that stretch the town out into the countryside.
Fields and channels
Small farm plots and irrigation channels surround the town. Together they make a fine mesh of lines that gives the outer parts of the map a subtle texture.
