Bloxwich sits on the northern side of Walsall in the West Midlands, along the main road towards Cannock. Its map is dense and varied. There are older terraced streets near the high street, larger interwar and post-war estates further out, and scattered patches of green and former industrial land that break up the housing.
The town has a long industrial history. It was known for making awl blades and other small metal goods for the leather trade, which Walsall was famous for. The canals and railway of the Black Country run nearby. Their lines still cut through the map, a reminder of how this area was once linked to the region's workshops and foundries.
