Dobrush lies in the Homyel region of southeastern Belarus, close to the Russian border. The town sits on the Iput river, which winds through a broad, low valley with meadows and floodplain along its banks. The streets follow a fairly regular pattern on the higher ground beside the river, and forest spreads beyond the edges of the town.
Dobrush is known for its paper mill, founded in the nineteenth century during the time of the Paskevich family. It became one of the oldest paper factories in the region and shaped the town's growth. On the map, the industrial area near the river forms a large, distinct block next to the residential streets.
