Forest Map Poster
Forest, or Vorst in Dutch, is one of the nineteen communes of the Brussels-Capital Region, lying just south of Saint-Gilles. Its map is shaped by a slope: the lower part sits in the valley of the Senne, crossed by railway lines and industrial sites, while the upper part climbs west toward wooded parkland and quieter residential streets.
At the heart of the commune stand the old Abbey of Forest and the church of Saint-Denis, a reminder that a village grew here long before Brussels reached it. Around them, nineteenth-century streets form a dense, slightly irregular mesh, with long avenues rising uphill and a few squares breaking the rhythm.

Duden Park and Forest Park form large, soft shapes on the hill, while the rail tracks toward Brussels-South run in bold parallel lines below. The commune is also home to Forest National, the concert hall known across Belgium, and to the Wiels art centre.
