Horizonte is a municipality in Ceará, in northeastern Brazil, and part of the metropolitan region of Fortaleza. The terrain is mostly flat to gently rolling, part of the low country behind the coast, and the town has spread across it. On a map the centre is a compact cluster, with newer neighbourhoods extending outward in blocks of varying orientation.
Being close to the state capital has encouraged industry and residential growth, and the plan reflects that recent expansion. Main roads carry traffic toward Fortaleza and the interior, and development lines up along them. Between these routes, grids of residential streets have been laid out in stages. The map shows patches of order joined by longer connecting roads and pockets of open land.
