Lübbecke lies in the Minden-Lübbecke district in northeastern North Rhine-Westphalia. It sits right at the northern edge of the Wiehengebirge, a long, narrow wooded ridge. To the south the ground rises into forest. To the north it flattens into the wide North German Plain, and the town sits on the threshold between the two.
The map shows that shift clearly. The old town centre forms a compact cluster of streets close to the foot of the hills. Residential districts spread out more loosely toward the flatter land, and the forested ridge rises behind, crossed by a few roads and paths. Lübbecke is a medieval town, and its core still has the tight, irregular layout of a historic Westphalian settlement.

The wooded ridge of the Wiehengebirge rises just south of town. On the map it forms a long, quiet band crossed only by occasional roads and forest paths.

North of the centre, the land opens into flat countryside with straighter roads and fields. This gives the composition a clear sense of the town at the edge of the plain.
