Millburn is a township in Essex County, New Jersey, about twenty miles west of Manhattan, and includes the community of Short Hills. From above it shows a small downtown along the railway and the Rahway River. Residential streets curve and loop over the rolling ground around it. To the north, the large green expanse of South Mountain Reservation fills much of the map.
The town takes its name from the mills that once stood along the river. Today it is known for the Paper Mill Playhouse, a regional theatre on the site of a former paper mill, and for the Mall at Short Hills. The Morris and Essex rail line links Millburn directly to New York, which shaped its growth as a commuter suburb.
