Oderzo Map Poster
Oderzo is a town in the province of Treviso, in Veneto. It began as Opitergium, an important Roman centre, and remains of the ancient town have been excavated beneath and around the modern streets. Today it is a prosperous market town on the flat, well-watered plain between the Piave and Livenza rivers.
The historic centre is built around Piazza Grande, a long square dominated by the cathedral and a tall tower that was once part of the town gate. The Monticano river curves around the old town, and the course of the water still shapes where the streets can run.
An Oderzo map poster shows that relationship clearly. A dense, rounded core fills a bend of the river, while newer neighbourhoods spread outward in straighter blocks, and the surrounding farmland is divided into the regular fields of the Venetian plain. In a few streets, the map sets two thousand years of history against modern growth.
