Ogōri lies in the southern part of Yamaguchi city, in western Honshu, on a broad valley floor between low wooded hills. It is best known as the location of Shin-Yamaguchi Station, where the Sanyō Shinkansen meets local lines heading north toward central Yamaguchi and the Sea of Japan coast. That transport role has shaped the district's growth around the station.
From above, the landscape is a mix of town and farmland: streets and buildings near the station, then paddy fields and small settlements stretching across the valley.
