Roha lies in Raigad district in Maharashtra, on the banks of the Kundalika River as it winds towards the Arabian Sea. From above, the river is the main feature, a looping line with the town gathered along its bank and a road bridge linking the two sides. Hills rise nearby, and the ground gives way to the first ridges of the Western Ghats.
The town is a rail junction as well. The Konkan Railway, which runs along India's western coast, begins at Roha, and the tracks make a clear straight line across the softer shapes of the river and the hills. There are industrial estates on the outskirts, their large rectangular plots very different from the tighter lanes of the older town.

Roha is where the Konkan Railway begins, and the line leaves the town heading south along the coast, a firm straight stroke through the softer terrain.

Low hills and ridges close in around the town, so the street network thins out quickly and gives way to the open, wrinkled terrain of the Sahyadri foothills.
