Machhu river bend
The river curves around the town, and that bend is widely held to be where the name Wānkāner comes from. It is the main natural line crossing the poster.

El mapa
Wānkāner Map Poster & Print
Wānkāner lies in Morbi district in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat. The name is usually explained as referring to the bend of a river, and the map bears it out: the Machhu curves past the town, and the older streets gather close to that curve before the newer neighbourhoods spread across the flatter ground beyond.
Until 1948 Wānkāner was the capital of a princely state, and its best-known landmark is the Ranjit Vilas Palace, built on a hill overlooking the town. From above, the palace grounds form a distinct open patch on the high ground, separate from the tight, irregular lanes of the old centre below.
A Wānkāner map poster shows a small town where the river still sets the shape. You can see the water bending, the dense core packed along it, and the railway and main roads leading out toward Rajkot and Morbi. In black and white, the river's line is the thread that holds the composition together.

Ranjit Vilas Palace
The former royal residence stands on a hill above the town. Its grounds appear as an open, elevated space set apart from the crowded streets below.
Old town lanes
Near the river, narrow lanes and closely built blocks form an irregular mesh that contrasts with the more open street layout of the newer outskirts.
