Irrigation canals
Canals and drainage channels cross the farmland in long straight lines. They give the area around the town a clear geometric structure on the map.

关于地图
Abnūb Map Poster & Print
Abnūb lies in Asyut Governorate in Upper Egypt, on the eastern side of the Nile valley. Here the band of cultivated land is narrow and the desert is never far away. From above, the town is a compact mass of streets inside a patchwork of irrigated fields, bounded by water on one side and dry plateau on the other.
Like many towns in this part of the valley, Abnūb has long lived from agriculture. Canals and field boundaries shape everything around it, and the roads follow them in straight, deliberate lines. It is the seat of a district of villages scattered across the same fertile strip.
An Abnūb map poster shows the valley at a legible scale. It includes the dense core, the grid of fields and canals around it and the sharp edge where cultivation stops and the desert plateau begins. It is a plain, honest picture of a Nile valley town.

Dense town core
Narrow streets and small blocks crowd the centre, the result of steady growth within limited land. On paper this shows as a concentrated dark area.
Desert boundary
To the east the cultivated valley ends abruptly at the plateau. This produces one of the sharpest land-use edges visible on any map.
