Arsanjān is a town in Fars province in southern Iran, northeast of Shiraz. It lies on a farming plain framed by ridges of the Zagros ranges, a setting shared by many towns in the region. The map shows a compact urban area in the middle of this plain. Main roads cross the town, and a finer mesh of residential lanes fills the blocks between them.
Around the built-up area, the land is divided into fields and orchards, which appear on the map as a network of tracks and plot boundaries. The contrast between the dense town and the open farmland is strong, and the mountains beyond make the landscape feel enclosed.
