关于地图
Asmara Map Poster & Print
Asmara sits high on the Eritrean plateau, at well over two thousand metres. Its centre is laid out on a clear plan, with a main avenue running east to west and a regular grid of streets on either side. Around that core, older neighbourhoods and later developments fill the gently rolling ground, and the street pattern loosens as it moves outward toward the edge of the highlands.
Much of the central city was built during the Italian colonial period, particularly in the 1930s, and it contains an unusual concentration of modernist architecture, from cinemas and cafés to service stations. The Fiat Tagliero building, with its cantilevered wings, is the best known. In 2017 Asmara was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site as a modernist African city.
An Asmara map poster focuses on the structure behind that architecture. Harnet Avenue runs through the middle of the frame, the planned grid extends to either side, and the transitions between districts are easy to read. It is a quiet, precise print of a capital that many people know mainly through photographs of its buildings.

Modernist core
The UNESCO-listed centre holds a dense grid of 1930s streets and buildings. On the map it shows as a neat, even block pattern in the middle of the frame.
Highland setting
The city spreads across rolling plateau ground, and the streets become freer at its edges. In wider framings, the terrain shapes how districts meet.

为什么选 Asmara
一张有意义的地图
Eritreans abroad often carry a strong attachment to Asmara, and architecture enthusiasts know it as a unique modernist city. A map poster honours both kinds of connection without needing words.
You can personalise the title, a subtitle with a name or date, and the coordinates line. Choose one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper suits the city's 1930s character.
