Bāgh-e Malek is a town in Khuzestan Province in south-western Iran, located in the foothills of the Zagros Mountains, away from the flat lowlands around Ahvaz. On the map, the town occupies a basin between ridges, with streets packed into the level ground and roads winding out through the surrounding folds of the land.
The name means king's garden, and the area around the town is used for farming where water and soil allow. From above, the pattern is clear: a dense town centre, patches of cultivated land in the valleys, and long, bare ridges running in parallel lines, typical of the Zagros fold belt.
