关于地图
Banbury Map Poster & Print
Banbury lies in north Oxfordshire, in the valley of the River Cherwell. The river and the Oxford Canal run close together along the eastern side of the town centre, with the railway beside them, and on a map they form a set of parallel lines. To the west the old market town rises gently, its streets spreading out from the Market Place in a loose, organic pattern.
Many people know the town from the nursery rhyme about riding a cock horse to Banbury Cross. Puritans pulled down the original cross around 1600, and the present one is a Victorian replacement standing at a junction of roads on Horse Fair. Banbury cakes, a spiced pastry filled with currants, are another long-standing local name.
A Banbury map poster brings together the market town core, the waterways of the Cherwell valley and the newer estates on the surrounding slopes, with the M40 running along the east. The composition works well: historic at the centre, open at the edges, and held together by the lines of the water.

Banbury Cross
Several roads meet at the cross on Horse Fair. The junction forms a clear node in the street plan and is the spot most visitors know from the rhyme.
Cherwell valley
The river's floodplain keeps the eastern side of the map open and green, a band of meadows and water between the town centre and the motorway.

为什么选 Banbury
一张有意义的地图
Banbury suits anyone who grew up in north Oxfordshire, commutes along the M40 or has spent a slow weekend on a narrowboat on the Oxford Canal. The poster brings back the whole layout of the town, which a photograph of the cross cannot do.
You can change the title, add a subtitle with a name or a date, and keep or edit the coordinates. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, and Paper suits the canal and the market town particularly well.
