关于地图
Bankra Map Poster & Print
Bankra lies in Howrah district in West Bengal, on the western side of the Hooghly River and within the wider urban sprawl of Kolkata and Howrah. On a map it appears as a dense, continuous fabric of narrow lanes, with few open gaps and no clear edge where one neighbourhood ends and the next begins.
The pattern is typical of the lower Bengal plain. Small ponds and water tanks are scattered through the built-up area, and the streets bend around them. A handful of larger roads cross the town and connect it to Howrah and the rest of the metropolitan region, while railway lines nearby add long straight strokes to the otherwise irregular mesh.
A Bankra map poster brings out the intricate grain of a place that is easy to overlook from the highway. Rendered in black and white, the lanes, ponds and roads become a detailed, almost textile-like surface, the kind of map that rewards close looking and shows how much life fits into a small area.

Ponds and tanks
Small bodies of water appear throughout the town as quiet blank shapes inside the dense mesh, a characteristic feature of settlements on the Bengal plain.
Links to Howrah
A few main roads cut through the lanes toward Howrah and Kolkata, giving the composition its principal directions and anchoring the town in the wider city.

为什么选 Bankra
一张有意义的地图
For families who have lived in Bankra for generations, or who moved away to other parts of India or overseas, a map of these specific lanes means more than a skyline of Kolkata ever could. It is personal geography, drawn without decoration.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a family name or an address, and choose one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Get the HD files for $9 or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
