Barki Saria lies in the Giridih district of Jharkhand, on the uneven ground of the Chota Nagpur Plateau. On a map it appears as a compact cluster of lanes gathered around a few main roads, with fields, ponds and patches of scrub spreading out on every side. The terrain is gently rolling, and the settlement pattern follows it loosely rather than in strict lines.
