Blomberg Map Poster & Print
Blomberg is a town in the Lippe district of North Rhine-Westphalia, set among the hills of the Lippe uplands east of Detmold. Its historic centre stands on raised ground, with streets gathered close around the market square and the castle, and many half-timbered houses survive. Newer neighbourhoods extend down the slopes, and villages that belong to the town are scattered across the surrounding countryside.
Blomberg is often called the Nelkenstadt, the carnation town, after a local legend and the tradition that grew from it. Burg Blomberg, a former castle of the counts of Lippe, stands at the edge of the old town. The town is also the headquarters of Phoenix Contact, an electrical engineering company whose site adds a large modern footprint to the map.
