The great square
Přemysl Otakar II Square is a large, almost perfect square at the heart of the old town. On the map it opens up as a clear void among the tightly packed blocks.

关于地图
České Budějovice Map Poster & Print
České Budějovice lies in South Bohemia where the Malše River joins the Vltava. From above, the historic centre is immediately recognisable: a rectangular grid of streets around a vast square, bordered on two sides by water and old channels. Around this core, later districts spread out in a looser pattern, with parks along the rivers and railway lines leading toward Prague and Linz.
The town was founded in 1265 by King Přemysl Otakar II as a royal town, and its planned layout still shows that origin. The main square, named after him, is one of the largest in Central Europe, with the Samson Fountain at its centre and the Black Tower nearby. The city is also known worldwide for its brewing tradition and the Budweiser Budvar brewery.
A České Budějovice map poster places the medieval grid at its centre. The square, the regular blocks and the rivers wrapping around them make a strong graphic image. Surrounded by later neighbourhoods and green riverbanks, the old town reads clearly at every print size.

Medieval grid
The streets of the historic centre follow a regular planned pattern from the town's founding. They form a neat rectangular network that is rare for a town of this age.
River confluence
The Malše and the Vltava meet next to the old town and partly encircle it. Their channels and green banks frame the historic core on two sides.
