Mining neighbourhoods
Housing developed near individual mines, so the town appears as a series of clusters rather than one centre, each with its own grid of streets.

关于地图
Chystyakove Map Poster & Print
Chystyakove lies in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, in the heart of the Donbas coalfield. Its map is shaped by mining: residential streets form grids and clusters between former and working mine sites, while rail spurs and roads link them together. Across the landscape, conical spoil heaps rise from the steppe, and small reservoirs and ravines break up the open land.
The town grew around coal mines in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. For much of the Soviet period it was known as Torez, and in 2016 Ukraine officially restored the name Chystyakove as part of its renaming of places with Soviet names. Its history, like that of the wider region, is closely tied to coal and industry.
A Chystyakove map poster shows a settlement made of several parts: separate neighbourhoods built around different mines, connected by roads and rail lines, with open steppe between them. The pattern reflects how the town was built, piece by piece around industrial sites. It is a map for people with personal ties to the Donbas and its mining towns.

Rail spurs
Rail lines and sidings once served the mines and still cross the map in long lines, connecting industrial sites with the wider network of the region.
Steppe and ravines
Between neighbourhoods lie open land, small reservoirs and ravines, giving the map a scattered, spacious character typical of Donbas mining towns.
