关于地图
Dire Dawa Map Poster & Print
Dire Dawa lies in eastern Ethiopia, at the base of the escarpment that rises towards Harar and the eastern highlands. It was founded in 1902 when the railway from Djibouti reached this point on its way to Addis Ababa, and the city grew around the station. On a map the railway still defines the centre, with streets laid out in relation to its line.
The Dechatu, a seasonal riverbed that is dry for much of the year, runs through the city and divides it. On one side is Kezira, the older railway town with a planned grid and wide, tree-lined streets shaped by French influence; on the other is Megala, a denser market district with narrower, more irregular lanes.
Dire Dawa is one of Ethiopia's two chartered cities, alongside Addis Ababa, and an important commercial centre for the east of the country. A Dire Dawa map poster makes its two-sided character easy to see: the calm railway grid, the crowded market quarter and the pale line of the riverbed running between them.

Kezira grid
The original railway town is laid out in a regular pattern of straight streets and broad blocks around the station, the most orderly part of the city.
Escarpment edge
To the south the ground rises towards the Harar highlands, and the city's streets give way to slopes and hills that form a natural boundary.
