Ḩājjīābād lies in the interior of Hormozgan Province in southern Iran, well inland from the port of Bandar Abbas. Here the land rises from the hot coastal lowland into the ranges of the Zagros foothills, and the town occupies a valley surrounded by bare, folded mountains. On a map the terrain is felt more than seen, a settlement pushed into the level ground between slopes.
The main road through town links the Persian Gulf coast with the Iranian plateau to the north, and the street plan lines up along it.
