Compact centre
The older part of town forms a tight cluster of streets. On the poster it becomes a dense dark shape surrounded by lighter, more open ground.

关于地图
Ḩalfāyā Map Poster & Print
Ḩalfāyā lies in Hama Governorate in western Syria, on the agricultural plain north of the city of Hama. The town is compact. Its denser core of streets loosens toward the edges into wider roads and newer blocks, and from above the built area stands out clearly against the fields that surround it on every side.
This is one of the country's farming regions, watered by the Orontes and its irrigation schemes, and the land is divided into long fields crossed by rural roads. The town of Mhardeh lies only a few kilometres away, and a wider frame shows a network of settlements linked across the plain, each a small cluster of streets in open country.
Ḩalfāyā was badly affected during the Syrian war, and many residents and their descendants now live elsewhere. For them, a Ḩalfāyā map poster can keep the layout of home present, drawn simply as streets and fields without commentary. It is a personal record rather than a statement.

Farmland plain
Fields stretch across the flat land north of Hama, divided by straight rural roads that radiate from the town into the countryside.
Neighbouring towns
Mhardeh and other settlements lie close by, so a wider frame shows several small towns linked by roads across the Orontes plain.
