Yuci old town
A compact historic quarter of narrow lanes and courtyard houses sits within the modern grid. From above it reads as a finer, denser texture than the wide blocks that surround it.

关于地图
Jinzhong Map Poster & Print
Jinzhong lies on the flat floor of the Taiyuan Basin in central Shanxi, directly south-east of the provincial capital. Its urban core, Yuci, has grown towards Taiyuan so steadily that the two now almost meet on the map. The streets are laid out in a broad, even grid, and the land stays flat until the mountains rise at the edges of the basin.
The prefecture is best known for the merchant culture of old Shanxi. The walled town of Pingyao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, falls within Jinzhong's administrative area, as does the Qiao Family Compound, a large courtyard residence that belonged to a banking family. In the Qing period, Shanxi's merchant families ran exchange houses that operated across much of China.
A Jinzhong map poster centred on Yuci shows a modern city with a small historic heart. The old town's lanes form a denser patch inside the grid, while the newer districts spread out in large rectangles crossed by boulevards and rail lines. It is a clear picture of how a basin city grows once the valley floor gives it room.

Basin-floor grid
The new districts extend in long, straight avenues across the flat Taiyuan Basin, forming large, regular blocks that give the map a calm and evenly weighted rhythm.
Towards Taiyuan
The northern edge of the city stretches towards the provincial capital, and roads and rail lines tie the two together across the open plain.

为什么选 Jinzhong
一张有意义的地图
Jinzhong is a thoughtful choice for anyone with roots in central Shanxi, whether in Yuci itself or in the old merchant towns around it. The regular grid prints cleanly and leaves room for a personal title.
