Lane network
Narrow roads and paths branch and rejoin across the area. They form a dense, even mesh with no single dominant centre, typical of settlement on Kerala's coastal plain.

关于地图
Karuva Map Poster & Print
Karuva lies in Kollam district in southern Kerala, on the low coastal plain north of Kollam city. Like much of this part of the state, it has no sharp boundary between town and countryside. The map shows an unbroken spread of houses along lanes and small roads, interrupted by ponds, paddy fields and the dense cover of coconut palms.
Water is never far away. The branching inlets of Ashtamudi Lake, one of Kerala's large backwater systems, reach into the district nearby, and the Arabian Sea coast runs a few kilometres to the west. Canals and streams connect these waters, so the drawn map is laced with thin lines of water even between the streets.
A Karuva map poster suits someone with family ties to Kollam, or anyone who likes the fine-grained texture of Kerala's settlement pattern. Instead of a centre and suburbs, it shows an even weave of paths and plots. The design looks calm on a wall and rewards a closer look.

Ashtamudi backwaters
The long, fingered inlets of Ashtamudi Lake lie close by. They add the irregular, branching shoreline for which this part of Kollam district is known.
Ponds and paddies
Small ponds and low-lying fields are scattered between the houses. They create open pockets in the pattern and make the map lighter and more varied.

为什么选 Karuva
一张有意义的地图
For Malayali families abroad or in other parts of India, a map of Karuva holds the particular pattern of home: the lanes, the water, the way houses sit among the trees. It is a personal piece that needs no explanation to those who know it.
The title can show the place name or a family name, the subtitle a date, and the coordinates line can be adjusted. Choose from five styles, preview for free at 900 px, and then download the HD files for $9 or order a print.
