The junction
Kenol grew around the point where the Murang’a road leaves the main highway. It is the node the whole town is organised around, and it sits near the centre of the map.

关于地图
Kenol Map Poster & Print
Kenol lies in Murang’a County, on the main road running north from Thika towards Sagana and Nyeri. It grew at the junction where the road to Murang’a town splits off into the hills, and it is commonly said to take its name from a fuel station that once stood at the crossing. The highway is still the spine of the town.
On a map the highway draws a strong, gently curving line through the centre. Shops, stages and yards pack closely along both sides, and the side streets branching off at right angles quickly turn into farm roads. Beyond them the land is the green ridge-and-valley country of central Kenya, crossed by streams running east from the Aberdare foothills.
A Kenol map poster shows a town defined by movement: matatus pulling in, traffic between Nairobi and the mountain, produce going to market. In black and white the busy roadside centre becomes a clear, simple shape: one main road, one turn-off, and a band of dense building between them, with farmland on every side.

Highway spine
The main road runs through as one long, confident stroke. Commercial plots line it closely, then thin out quickly into smaller lanes and fields.
Ridge country
East-flowing streams cut the surrounding land into parallel ridges, which gives the edges of the map a combed, directional texture.
