Vals River loops
The river bends repeatedly along the edge of town, creating a winding line that contrasts with the straight streets of the central grid.

关于地图
Kroonstad Map Poster & Print
Kroonstad lies on the Vals River in the northern Free State, on flat, open highveld. The older town is organised in a regular grid of wide streets, typical of South African towns from the nineteenth century, and the river loops along its edge in a series of tight bends. Railway lines and highways cross the landscape around it.
The town was founded in 1855, and during the Anglo-Boer War it briefly served as the capital of the Orange Free State in 1900. It became an important railway junction, and a military base is located nearby. To the east is the township of Maokeng, with its own distinct street pattern.
A Kroonstad map poster shows the straight lines of the grid next to the winding curves of the Vals River. Rail lines add long diagonal strokes across the map, and the open veld around the town leaves plenty of space. It is a clear, balanced composition with a strong sense of the land around it.

Central grid
Wide, straight streets laid out in a regular pattern form the old town centre, making it one of the most readable parts of the map.
Railway lines
Tracks cross the landscape at long angles, a reminder of the town's role as a rail junction on the routes through the Free State.

为什么选 Kroonstad
一张有意义的地图
Kroonstad is home to many families who have spread across South Africa and beyond. A map of its streets, river and railway lines is a way to keep a connection to the Free State wherever they now live.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a family name or a meaningful date. Pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand; Sand suits the highveld well.
