Vaal River
The river loops along the southern side of the town and marks the provincial border. Its strong, meandering line frames the lower part of the poster.

关于地图
Orkney Map Poster & Print
Orkney lies on the north bank of the Vaal River in South Africa's North West Province, south-east of Klerksdorp. It grew up around the gold mines of the Klerksdorp goldfield, and the map shows that origin plainly: a small central grid and planned residential areas, surrounded by large tracts of mine land with shafts, tailings dams and service roads across the veld.
The town takes its name from the Orkney Islands of Scotland, a link to its early founders. Deep-level gold mining has shaped the local economy for decades. The Vaal River, which marks the boundary with the Free State, adds a long, winding line along the southern edge of the area and gives the flat landscape its one natural feature.
An Orkney map poster turns this working landscape into a clean drawing: the tidy town streets, the scattered mine properties and the river bending past on the edge. It is a fitting keepsake for mining families, engineers and anyone who spent years in the goldfields of the North West.

Mining landscape
Around the town, large parcels of mine land with access roads and tailings dams form broad, irregular shapes. They set Orkney apart from an ordinary suburban map.
Compact town grid
The central streets form a small, regular grid, and residential areas extend outward in planned blocks. The result is a neat core amid the open veld.

为什么选 Orkney
一张有意义的地图
Many families came to Orkney for the mines, and for them the town is tied to work, shifts and community. A map of its streets and river is a respectful way to remember those years, whether you still live nearby or moved on long ago.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a mine name or a year, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster, shipped from print partners in more than 30 countries.
