Izunuma and Uchinuma
These linked marsh lakes appear as smooth, open shapes among the paddies, and each winter they host great numbers of geese arriving from the north.

关于地图
Kurihara Map Poster & Print
Kurihara is a city in northern Miyagi formed in 2005 when ten towns and villages merged, and its map shows exactly that: not one centre but several small town cores scattered across a broad, mostly agricultural landscape. Rice paddies divide the flat land into fine rectangular plots, and roads link the former municipalities in a loose network.
In the east lie the Izunuma and Uchinuma wetlands, shallow lakes protected under the Ramsar Convention and known for the large flocks of geese that winter there. To the west the ground rises toward Mount Kurikoma, a volcano on the border with Iwate and Akita. The Tohoku Shinkansen crosses the city with a station at Kurikoma-Kogen.
A Kurihara map poster is a landscape portrait as much as a town plan. It holds the blank shapes of the lakes, the dense texture of field boundaries and the rougher terrain of the mountains, all within one frame, which suits anyone who knows the region from farming, birdwatching or hiking.

Paddy field grid
Across the lowlands, narrow roads and irrigation lines divide the rice fields into regular strips, producing a fine, almost textile pattern that fills much of the map.
Mount Kurikoma foothills
In the west, the road network thins as the land rises toward the volcano, leaving a rugged, sparsely drawn edge that contrasts with the ordered plain.

为什么选 Kurihara
一张有意义的地图
For people from one of the old towns that now make up Kurihara, the map shows home inside its wider landscape. It also makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who has watched the geese rise from the lakes on a winter morning.
You can set your own title, add a subtitle or a date, and personalise the coordinates line, then choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Files cost $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
