Kuruvattūr lies in the northern part of Kerala, inland from the Malabar coast and within reach of Kozhikode. Like many places in the state, it does not have a single dense centre. Houses sit on their own plots among trees, linked by narrow roads and footpaths that follow the lie of the land, so the map shows a soft network of lines rather than blocks.
This pattern is typical of rural and semi-urban Kerala, where settlements merge gradually into one another and the boundary between village and town is hard to see from above.
